• When installing on '86-'15 XL models, modifying or spacing the chain/belt guard may be necessary to allow proper clearance.

A shock slightly longer than stock can alter head angle toward quicker steering; a slightly shorter shock can result in somewhat slower steering. Heavy duty applications are recommended for bikes operated near the manufacturer's maximum load rating more than half the time.

Before purchasing or attempting to install shocks that differ from the OEM length, confirm that wheel travel can be altered without causing clearance issues such as swingarm/axle to exhaust contact, chain/belt guard interference, or tire contact.
