S&S CYCLE 585G Gear Drive Camshaft Kit — 585 Series grind, gear – 99-06 Touring, 00-06 CVO, 00-06 Softail, 99-05 Dyna

Designed for 88, 96, 103 and 110 cubic-inch engines with compression ratios from 10.0:1 to 10.5:1.

This gear drive reverses the rear cam's direction of rotation to provide additional operating clearance between cam lobes, allowing higher cam lifts where applicable.

By eliminating chain lash and the loosely fitted stock chain drive, the kit increases valve timing accuracy for more consistent performance.

Installation requires material removal from the inner surface of the stock gear cover and a hydraulic press plus professional tools; professional installation is recommended. 🔧

Recommended operating ranges: 3500–6000 rpm for 88" to 103" engines and 2500–5500 rpm for larger displacements.

Replace cam bearings and gaskets when installing new cams, and S&S recommends using adjustable pushrods and cover-get where applicable. Installer must check coil bind, valve-to-valve clearance and valve-to-piston clearance during assembly. ⚙️

Note: due to gear drive characteristics, expect increased valve train noise. Made in the USA. High‑lift springs and adjustable pushrods are required for '99–'04 models.
