Alternate Length Designer Series ABS-specific front brake line kits are manufactured with enhanced construction to meet Harley-Davidson ABS routing and performance requirements while following OEM routing paths.
The kit consists of a direct-fit lower assembly designed to be used with alternate-length upper lines; upper, lower, mid and adapter kits are sold separately to achieve a perfect fit for a wide range of applications.
Brake lines are built with PTFE inner tubing, DuPont™ Kevlar® aramid reinforcement, premium braided reinforcement and an outer PVC jacket to minimize expansion and protect finishes from scuffing or discoloration.
Fitment notes: single-disc Dyna and Sportster models use two kits (one upper and one lower). Most Softail models utilize three kits (upper, mid and lower) except '18+ dual disc models; lower kits are optional on all Softail applications. Dual-disc Touring models use three kits, while Trike models use two kits (upper and mid-line).
An adapter is required for many Softail applications to complete the connection from the ABS controller ('11 - '17) or the lower brake line ('18+) to the master cylinder; when replacing both upper and lower lines on '18+ Softail dual-disc models, an adapter is not required.
Non-stock applications require measuring the required upper brake line length and banjo angle to ensure correct fitment. Upper line length for Softail, Dyna and '14+ Sportster models is determined using the OE master cylinder line as a guide; for Touring and Trike models use the 49" mid-line as a reference when measuring.
Harley-Davidson motorcycles equipped with ABS require ABS-specific upper and lower brake line kits. Failure to use ABS-specific lines may compromise anti-lock braking performance. ABS-specific hoses are identified with the letters "ABS" printed on the brake hose.
